Background
In these uncertain times and the recent restrictions to support social distancing, we have had numerous requests of how our EHQ digital tools can be used to replace or mimic face-to-face engagement events.
Whilst many are familiar with how you can use our 8 digital engagement tools, there are many ways these tools can be used to support and increase online engagement, or to be used to host a 'digital event'.
Digital Event Agenda
Welcome to our virtual meeting room. This live event focused on the 'Ideas' tool. Our topic was "What are your best tips and ideas for working from home ?"
Stage 1 - Share your idea on the board and add a photo. Comment on other peoples ideas and share your experiences.
Stage 3 - Vote on your favourite ideas, using the heart icon. Let us know which tip you like best.
Stage 3 - Reporting back
Thank you to everyone who has contributed, we received 122 contributions and saw consistent ongoing engagement over our three days of this live digital event. Please look at the Summary below for the breakdown of our contributions or review the video above for a quick review.
We decided to run this digital event in two stages, and over a 3 day period to showcase how you a can engage and collect feedback within a dedicated timeframe and then re-invite participants back to vote on the idea they like best. We are in unprecedented times, and In response to Covid-19 many people are now working from home.
This can be a daunting experience, and it is certainly providing a set of new challenges and obstacles as we try to juggle our workloads, stay connected and keep the household running.
We thought it would be good to share and discuss your best tips and ideas of how to stay productive and connected whilst working from home.
For most of us at Bang the Table we have been doing this for years, so we thought we would kick things off with a tip from our staff.

Bush walking
We live in a suburb of Wollongong that is lucky enough to have an amazing bush right at our back door. Mangerton bush park is about 2 minute walk from my house. Some community members decorated the walking trail for Easter :) I try and go for a quick walk before starting work (even just for 10 mins) so I don't feel so stiff sitting and have already moved my body

Make time to get out into the sunshine - don't feel guilty
Normally at office based work you might pop out to grab a coffee, or head across the city for that meeting. This means that you can often open time outdoors even if you are desk-based. So taking regular breaks away form the computer is important to keep blood flowing to your brain. And heading into winter we need all the vitamin D we can get - so get out into the sunshine.

Eat a proper lunch!
At home and out of office routine - I find it can be easy to fall into habit of grazing and snacking with the pantry and fridge on hand. I have tried to build a habit of eating a proper nutritious lunch and stepping away from the screen even just 10minutes makes a difference. To build on this I even schedule virtual lunch catch ups with friends and sit in my courtyard "cafe" :-)

Spend a few minutes catching up at the start of online meetings.
Working from home can be very isolating. You miss all those little opportunities to say hello or ask how someone is doing. Also not everyone has a strong network outside of the workplace. I feel like an online meeting is the perfect opportunity to squeeze in some social interaction and make sure everyone is doing okay. Sometimes this is a quick casual chat perhaps about the weekend or sometimes it is a focused part of the agenda. This might be introduce your pet or show us something interesting from your home. I think this also helps to 'break the ice' at the beginning of the meeting.
